Tullamore Golf Club

Fri & Sat 24th & 25th August 2012

Whilst we didn't have a huge entry, the outing to Tullamore was very successful, and more importantly, very enjoyable.

We stayed at the 4-star Bridge House Hotel in Tullamore where we got a really good meal and had a very pleasant few drinks in the residents' bar.  Unfortunately, due to the early tee-off on Saturday, we barely had time for breakfast and we didn't get a chance to sample the leisure facilities etc.

Tullamore Golf course was a real pleasure to play, as you can see from the photos below.  Considering the Summer we have been having, we were very lucky with the weather.   Friday started a little damp, but after a couple of holes the rain gear came off, and stayed off.  Saturday the sun shone for most of the day, with the exception of a 10-minute downpour.

After lunch on Saturday we had a putting competition which went down to Mick Aylmer's last stroke.  He sank a six-footer to avoid a six-way play off.  "It was the easiest bottle of whiskey I ever won", said Mick afterwards.
